Protect hardware & surrounding areas with tape and drop clothes
Sand down the surfaces with a dustless sander. First with 80 grit and then 120 and finally 220
Clean surfaces
Apply gel stain. Allow to dry and apply twice more until appearance is even
Apply 3 coats of clear coating
